Gangying Hook-and-Loop Sanding Disc

Gangying Hook-and-Loop Disc Series

Gangying's flagship hook-and-loop sanding disc combines electrostatically coated calcined brown aluminum oxide with a reusable velour backing for quick grit changes. Available in 4, 5, 7 and 9 in diameters from P40 to P1000, it supports wet or dry sanding for woodworking, refinishing, rust and paint removal, and weld blending.

Applications

  • Furniture & woodworking
  • Automotive & yacht refinishing
  • Rust & paint removal
  • Weld seam grinding

The Gangying Hook-and-Loop Sanding Disc is our lead export line. The electrostatic coating process stands every grain upright, giving stronger cutting power and a uniform scratch pattern, while the calcined brown aluminum-oxide grain resists shedding and wears slowly.

The velour backing locks cleanly onto matching pads and releases without tearing, so discs can be swapped fast on production lines - no adhesive residue, no half-worn discs thrown away because they wouldn’t re-stick. Often listed as velcro-backed or flocked sanding discs, they run wet or dry on metal and non-metal surfaces alike.

Choosing the right grit (P40-P1000)

One backing system covers the whole refinishing sequence:

  • P40-P80 - heavy stock removal: stripping rust, old paint and mill scale, knocking down weld seams.
  • P100-P180 - shaping and levelling after the coarse cut, first sanding on bare wood.
  • P240-P400 - surface preparation before primer or sealer, sanding between coats.
  • P600-P1000 - fine finishing where a shallow, uniform scratch pattern matters before polishing or topcoat.

A typical job steps up through the grits without skipping more than one grade at a time, so most buyers stock a spread rather than a single grade. Mixed-grit orders across the range are routine for us.

Four sizes for the common machines

Discs come in 4, 5, 7 and 9 in diameters (100 / 125 / 180 / 230 mm), matching the standard hook-and-loop backup pads on random-orbital sanders, angle grinders and rotary polishers. The 5 in / 125 mm disc is the workhorse format for orbital sanders in furniture and body shops; 7 and 9 in suit angle grinders and large-area work such as yacht hulls.

Why calcined grain and electrostatic coating

Calcined brown aluminum oxide is heat-treated for toughness, so the grain fractures less under load and the disc keeps cutting instead of glazing over. Electrostatic coating plants each grain point-up and spaces it evenly across the disc face - the practical result is a faster cut at the same pressure and a scratch pattern consistent enough to follow with the next grit straight away.

Applications

  • Furniture and woodworking - bare-wood sanding, sealer flatting and finish prep on flat and profiled parts.
  • Automotive and yacht refinishing - paint and gelcoat sanding on curved panels, where the flexible backing follows the surface.
  • Rust and paint removal - coarse grits clear corrosion and old coatings without tearing off the pad.
  • Weld seam grinding - levelling seams and blending the surrounding metal in one grit sequence.
